I’ve been thinking about how crows are one of the few animals that have thrived in the city environment (rats, pigeons, racoons, squirrels)--this isn’t to be confused with adaptation or evolution which takes far longer.
I had a sort of missed connection in mid to late june (2024), here’s the text I ended up sending to my friend Silvia:
I was outside the other day and there was a group riding bikes fairly slowly and the person at the front had a speaker that was playing crow noises, and they seemed to not have a particular route and would decide which way to go at each intersection. I’m not sure if the directions came from real crow responses and they were trying to track them down, or if the group itself was somehow mimicking crows and behaving as a flock would (murder, my bad). Anyways it’s been on my mind and I hope to one day understand.
(let me know if you have information about this, at the very least the group seemed like a bunch of sweethearts)
